These videos were directed, constructed, and edited by myself utilizing various software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, DaVinci Resolve, and GIMP. Each video has taught me a valuable lesson that I continually build upon as I strive to excel within various social media realms.
Pseudo-live Let’s Plays
These are a ball to make and many of the edits are actually done live, the face camera zooms and mouse position magnifications. I also give the audience the option of utilizing the live editing scripts via channel point redemptions. Adding the audience’s chat messages is a great way to both showcase the community and to provide a pseudo-live experience for those watching after the fact.
Community Clip
Utilizing clips that the community flags is a great way to provide them with what they enjoy. For these clips it’s as simple as locating the moment that they enjoyed and showcasing it in a vertical format that they can watch on their mobile devices.
Looping Short
These videos grab the viewer’s attention by beginning in the middle of the rising action with various edits to keep their eyes engaged. The video ends where it began in order to form a loop that they can enjoy multiple times.
Statement Hook
Beginning videos with a statement and eye contact is a great way to grab a viewer’s attention, especially if the statement leads into an action.
Viewer Live Edits
Allowing the viewers to edit live, via custom scripts linked to channel point redemptions, has allowed for increased interactivity and engagement.
Trending Music Clip
Trending music is not only HUGE on TikTok but it’s also a great way to capture and hold a viewer’s attention, especially when it’s accompanied by an engaging clip.
Rhetorical Foreshadowing
Whether they know the answer or not, beginning with a question is an effective way to grab the viewer’s attention because communal discovery is engaging. Also, utilizing pop culture references is always a fun way to enhance any moment.
Community Challenge
Opening with a community challenge is both an effective way to highlight the community as well as capture the viewer. Also, referencing similar instances within pop culture is a great way to amplify any moment.
Personal Challenge
Beginning with a bold statement will spark the viewer’s curiosity and commentating on what is and will happen will keep them engaged. In this video I highlight the important battlefield information and deliver it to the viewer in an easily understandable way. Also, trending music.
Screen Space
I LOVE anime. The challenge with this video resided in how to deliver the elements of the story that I wanted to tell in a condensed yet substantial way while utilizing the vertical screen space efficiently. I decided to utilize the upper 80% of the screen because any more would have detracted from the narrative. Again, trending music is HUGE on TikTok.
